Meet our Team:
Members
Chris is the appointed Corporate Member for the Diocese Board of Education. He is the Director of Education for the Diocese of Chester and leads the department which supports 116 Church Schools across the Diocese.
Naomi qualified as a Solicitor in 2004 and has over 15 years of experience in commercial and residential property.
With invaluable local business and community knowledge, Eddie has been involved in the governance of the Trust through his previous position as a Trustee for the Brine MAT for a number of years.
Julian has experience in structured finance having worked for NatWest Bank for 30 years. Julian was also involved in the rapid school improvement of Alsager Highfields school where he sat on the IEB.
Sajida is a solicitor with advanced knowledge in: Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Governance, Risk and Compliance, Quality Assurance (Lexcel), SRA Compliance, Legal Aid Agency Compliance (including Peer Reviews), Business Development and Complaints Handling, Financial Crime Prevention, Client Due Diligence (CDD), Know your Client (KYC), Cyber Risk and Management of Risk.
Trustees
Nigel has over 30 years’ experience in the retail sector and held posts as a key board member in Blue Chip, SME and Start-Up businesses. He has also held several Interim positions focused on business turnaround. Key areas of expertise are Marketing, e-commerce, Commercial and Leadership.
He has previously been a Trustee at Sale Grammar School Academy Trust and more recently trained as a vaccinator for the NHS.
Sue is currently the CEO of a rapidly expanding business, Connect Solutions Group after spending 15 years working within mainstream secondary schools, holding a variety of management positions which involved working in curriculum development and providing for students with additional needs. Sue has since gained the Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (QTVI) qualification and still spends time working with young people who have visual impairment.
Sue is very proud of the business and the way that it has made a difference to many lives, either directly or indirectly through our partnerships. Recently she has enjoyed being involved in the development of assistive technology to promote independent learning within schools at a national level.
Stephen is a Qualified Accountant who started his work career at Marks and Spencer. He currently works within the NHS and has experience of working within both Providers and Commissioners. He has a broad skillset, but with specific focus upon strategic finance, contract management, performance, procurement and transformation change programmes. He has a highly developed commercial skillset having been the Independent Sector contracting lead for the Provider Collaborative to supplement his existing leadership role. Outside of work, Stephen’s interests are football, cricket and golf. His son attends Brine Leas High School.
Following a few years in the banking industry Janet became a partner in an Agricultural Contracting business with responsibilities for finance, invoicing and general management.
Janet has been a school governor for many years with experience at both primary and secondary levels, taking on the role of Chair in both sectors and spent 12 years as Chair of the Brine Multi Academy Trust. She is particularly interested in outcomes for all young people and the financial aspects of management in the education sector.
Outside of education she plays bridge being Chair of one club and treasurer of another, she also enjoy reading, dancing and pilates.
Carl has 22 years’ experience of teaching and learning in six diverse school settings. Carl has previously worked internationally, in large urban cities, as well as rural settings and is currently the headteacher of a Cheshire East primary school. In addition to Carl’s school-based roles, he is also an accredited local leader of education, a headteacher advocate for the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and sits on the strategic board of initial teacher training at Staffordshire University. Most recently, Carl has been asked to join STEM Learning’s Education Leaders Advisory Group
Mike Needham is currently the Director of Communications, Admissions and Marketing for Shrewsbury College Group. He has been working in education for the last five years but has previously worked in marketing communications roles in retail and sporting sectors including a 10-year stint as Head of Marketing for a Premier League football club. He is the father of twin, teenage boys.
Barrie is a Chartered Surveyor with over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry, mostly in the local government sector, managing capital/revenue maintenance projects and building compliance. Areas of expertise include strategic planning, financial planning, project management and governance.
Barrie has been a governor of a local primary school for over 20 years and currently holds the position of chair of governors.
Paul has 24 years’ experience of teaching in a wide range of schools across the North west and Midlands. With over 20 years in a variety of specialist education provisions, Paul is a highly motivated school leader with over 16 years’ successful senior leadership experience. He has a proven track record of raising standards, maximising outcomes for students and driving rapid and sustainable whole school improvement. Since 2000, Paul has been involved as a senior leader in different specialist schools catering for the needs of a wide range of autistic students and worked to maximise opportunities for those students. Before joining The National Autistic Society Paul worked as a Specialist School consultant working with a range of organisations to ensure all students in the various education settings were able to achieve their very best. Paul is passionate about the school’s adventure learning curriculum, given his experiences in the outdoors and leading a number of school trips to both UK and European based residential centres.
Ellen is a serving Headteacher at Sandbach High School and sixth form College having been a teacher and Senior Leader at another Cheshire Secondary school prior to that for 14 years. Prior to that she worked in a large secondary school in Walsall. She is also an OFSTED Inspector with specialism in Behaviour, Safeguarding, Attendance, Reading and English.
She is a mum to two teenage boys and a keen runner.
